Global warming is real. Hotter days, rising sea levels (melting glaciers and ice caps) and more frequent and intense extreme weather events can be seen not just overseas but in Malaysia as well. Many institutions have banded together in a united effort to address its effects. Just recently, TikTok partnered with Conservation International to address marine plastic pollution by pledging to donate up to $100,000 (RM400,000) to help save 3,000 square kilometers of ocean.
As a continuous effort, TikTok today has once again pledged its commitment to inspire action against climate change, by partnering with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the world’s largest humanitarian network, to launch the #ForClimate challenge.
From now till September 30th, TikTok users can raise awareness of climate change by using three specially designed stickers depicting extreme weather conditions: Rainstorm, Snowstorm and Global Warming. Additionally, TikTok users can also take part in an interactive quiz where they can test their knowledge on environmental protection and share actions they have done to help end the climate crisis.
TikTok users in Malaysia have already begun uploading their videos in a show of solidarity towards this important global issue:-
